Pantone created a brief for the 2015 D&AD New Blood awards. The brief is a challenge to re-imagine a town or city through colour.
I began by researching into my home town of Nottingham, UK. I explored the city and photographed lots of parts of Nottingham. The reason I chose Nottingham is because the idea of reimagining the City appealed to me, I have long felt that Nottingham could be so much more than it is.
Nottingham is most famous for its association with Robin Hood, as this is a core part of Nottingham’s identity I felt it was important to reflect that. I used the arrowhead as is is a really powerful metaphor for how I want Nottingham to be percieved, Strong & Positive. The segments in the arrowhead are derived from architechtural elements found around the city.
I also felt that compared with other Cities the residents are not as involved. I wanted to get people involved in the project so I had different groups of people from Nottingham select a colour which they felt
represented their City.
I then had them use specially modified Bow and Arrows which carried paint on them, to create a unique pattern on canvas. These patterns and colours were then put together to create the logo.
Thanks for checking out my project, feel free to take a look at
my other projects.
